About this course

Inert Proxy publishes one thing: a five-step workbook for people in Australia who are about to open their first large online war game on a desktop computer. There is no magazine around it, no news section and no community. When the five steps and their checklists are done, the site has nothing further to offer, and that is deliberate.

Who publishes it

This site is published by M - Style Europe s.r.o., a company registered in the Czech Republic.

  • Company: M - Style Europe s.r.o.
  • Registered address: Korunní 2569/108, Vinohrady, 101 00 Praha 2, Czech Republic

Material is written by the M - Style Europe s.r.o. editorial team. No individual author is named, because nothing here rests on anybody's personal authority: every general statement is either something you can verify with the regulator or vendor linked beside it, or ordinary guidance you are free to disagree with. There are no staff profiles, qualifications or photographs, for the same reason.

Editorial method

How the course was structured

The five steps follow the order in which the obstacles actually arrive for a new player: what the game demands, whether the machine can meet it, the account, the install and first session, and then everything afterwards. Each step was written to be finishable in one sitting and to end in a list of checks, because a checklist is what turns reading into something you have done.

What each step relies on

  • Step 1 draws on the common structure of account-based online games and, where it names a specific title, on that vendor's own published description and nothing else.
  • Step 2 uses the system information tools built into Windows, macOS and Linux, described as they are documented by those operating systems.
  • Step 3 follows the general advice on passphrases and multi-factor authentication published for individuals by the Australian Cyber Security Centre, and the current scam material published by Scamwatch.
  • Step 4 describes the behaviour common to large game installers and launchers in general terms. It is not a walkthrough of any one publisher's screens.
  • Step 5 points to the Australian Classification Board for classifications and consumer advice, the ACCC for the Australian Consumer Law, and the eSafety Commissioner for the online abuse schemes.

Rules the writing follows

  • A claim about a named game comes only from what its vendor states. Where the vendor is silent, this course says so rather than filling the gap.
  • A claim about Australian law, classification or regulation is linked to the body responsible for it, and is described rather than interpreted.
  • No statistics, test results or benchmarks are published here, because none have been produced here.
  • The worked example household is explicitly hypothetical. There are no reader accounts, quotes, ratings or testimonials anywhere on this site, and no outcome is promised.
  • Nothing in the course asks the reader to hurry, and nothing suggests the reader's computer is at risk.

How often it is reviewed

The whole course is read through at least twice a year, and any individual step is revisited sooner if something in it stops being accurate — a government page moves, or an operating system relocates the panel a step tells you to open. The date of the most recent review appears in the footer of every page, including this one.

The commercial relationship, stated plainly

One product named in the course, Enlisted, is a product this publisher has a commercial relationship with: links to it are paid affiliate links, and M - Style Europe s.r.o. is paid a commission by the affiliate network that operates the link when a reader registers an account after following one. That is the only commercial relationship affecting this site. It does not decide what the steps say, and the course can be completed in full without following any link off this site. The arrangement is set out at length on the affiliate disclosure page.

What this site is not

It is not an official source for any game, and it is not connected to, authorised by or endorsed by any game publisher. It is not a news outlet and does not report on anything. It is not professional, legal or security advice. It is not a download site: there are no files here, and nothing on this site installs anything.

There is also no enrolment and no account. The site collects nothing, stores nothing in your browser and makes no request to any other server — the privacy policy and the cookie policy describe that in detail.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, out of date or unclear, write to info@inertproxy.online and say which page and which sentence. Corrections are made to the page itself and the review date is updated; there is no corrections column, because a workbook that quietly stays accurate is more use than one that keeps a record of its own mistakes. The contact page explains what to expect.
