Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 16 October 2026

This course costs you nothing to read, and somebody has to pay for the writing and the hosting. The answer is affiliate commission, and this page sets out exactly how that works so you can weigh what you read here with the arrangement in front of you.

ORD 13-2

How the arrangement works

A small number of links on this site point to the website of the game vendor Enlisted. Those links are paid affiliate links. If you follow one and then register an account, the affiliate network that operates the link records the referral and pays M - Style Europe s.r.o. a commission for it.

The commission is paid by the network out of the vendor's marketing budget. It is not added to anything you pay, and following the link does not change the terms on which you deal with the vendor: what you pay, if anything, is whatever the vendor's own site says, exactly as it would be if you had typed the address yourself.

Payment is triggered by a registration, not by a purchase and not by a click. That is worth knowing because it tells you what this site is being rewarded for, and therefore where you should read with the most scepticism: anywhere the course is talking about signing up.

ORD 13-3

Where the affiliate links are

There are three, and no others anywhere on this site:

  • On the homepage, in the section explaining where Enlisted appears in the course and why.
  • In Step 1, where the vendor's own description is used as the example of what registration involves.
  • In Step 3, in the part about confirmation messages, because the vendor describes confirming an email address as part of its registration.

Each one carries a line beside it saying what it is, in the same size type as the text around it. Each one opens in a new tab, is marked as sponsored for search engines, and sends you directly to the destination address shown in your browser's status bar when you hover over it. There is no intermediate page, no counter, no redirect of our own, and nothing happens between your click and the vendor's site.

Every other link on this site — to the Australian Classification Board, the ACCC, the OAIC, eSafety, Scamwatch, the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the ACMA — is an ordinary link to a public body. Nobody pays for those, and nobody is asked to.

ORD 13-4

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide what the steps say. The instructions in Step 2 about reading your computer's specifications, in Step 3 about passphrases and two-factor sign-in, and in Step 5 about classification and spending would be identical if the commission were zero, because they are about the category rather than about any one product.

It does not buy favourable description. Nowhere does this course claim Enlisted is the best game of its kind, or recommend that you register for it. What it says about the game comes from the vendor's own short description: a game set in the atmosphere of the Second World War, which asks a new player to register, confirm an email address and sign in. Where the vendor says nothing, this site says nothing, rather than guessing.

It does not decide which products are mentioned at all. A course about starting a game needs a concrete example of a registration, and one is used. Nothing is omitted because it pays less, and nothing is included because it pays more.

And it does not require anything of you. Every checklist in this course can be completed without following a single affiliate link, and the course would still make sense if all three were deleted. If you would rather not be counted as a referral, type the vendor's address into your browser instead.

ORD 13-5

What does decide the content

Three things. First, the order in which obstacles actually arrive for a new player — which is why the course runs from demands, to hardware, to account, to install, to afterwards. Second, what an Australian reader can verify independently, which is why regulators are linked wherever a general claim about law, classification or safety is made. Third, what a vendor has published about its own product, which is the only source used for claims about a named game.

The method behind that is described at more length on the About page, including how the steps are sourced and how often they are reviewed.

ORD 13-6

What the network knows, and what we know

This site does not track you: no cookies, no storage, no analytics, nothing. Once you follow an affiliate link you are on another company's website, and the vendor and the network may use cookies or similar technology on their own domains to attribute the referral. We receive commission reports from the network, use them only to reconcile payments, and do not seek anything in them that would identify an individual reader. The privacy policy and the cookie policy set that out in full.
